Ms. Nijjar’s practice is focused on family law, specifically in the areas of child custody and guardianship as well as access, mobility and child support. In addition, Ms. Nijjar has experience in matters concerning divorce, property division and maintenance as well as marriage and separation agreements. Her experience in assisting and supporting clients in dealing with the Ministry of Children and Family Development is also significant.

Ms. Nijjar was born and raised in Victoria where she attended Claremont Secondary School and completed two undergraduate programs at the University of Victoria, including a degree in Social Work. Ms. Nijjar graduated from law school at the University of Western Ontario in 2003. During her studies in law, Ms. Nijjar participated in an exchange opportunity at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ms. Nijjar travelled to Tashkent, Uzbekistan to work as a Consultant with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the areas of gender and development as well as policy and planning. Ms. Nijjar remained in the Central Asian country for some time which provided her with the opportunity to build effective partnerships with local, national and international organisations.

Upon returning to Victoria, Ms. Nijjar was employed with the Provincial Government as a Policy and Legislative Analyst before commencing her articles with McCullough Blazina Dieno Gustafson & Watt in 2008.

Ms. Nijjar is fluent in Punjabi. She is an avid soccer fan and enjoys travelling and reading.
